About Us

Serenity TKD Mission

At Serenity, our mission is to empower individuals through Taekwondo, promoting physical strength, mental resilience and ethical conduct. We foster a supportive community where students of all ages can achieve personal growth, self-discipline and respect.

Master Mitchell Johnson

My name is Mitchell Johnson Senior, born April 10, 1972 in Mamou, Louisiana where I spent my childhood growing up until the age of 18.  As a kid, I was always fascinated with Martial Arts and took classes here and there as I grew up.  At the age of 29, I felt the calling to get back on the mat.  I gave it my all and worked my way to Black Belt.  Once I received my Black Belt in 2005, I stepped away to focus on my family life alongside my wife of 20 plus years.  We raised four children ranging from 27 years old to 14 years old.  My kids had grown up quickly since 2005 and in 2015 I was able to get back into the Art to continue my studies and haven't stopped ever since. I received my 4th Dan Certificate from the Kukkiwon, the Governing Body for the Art of Taekwondo in March of 2021.

My passion is to continue to teach the Art traditionally.   To have students who look forward to attending classes and want to be engaged in the sparring aspect of Taekwondo.  I want the students of Serenity to know that it’s OK to ask questions or ask for someone to show them how a particular kick, block or punch may need to be thrown.  When one person has the courage to ask a question it can answer other's same questions.  Please, don’t be afraid to ask! We must never stop learning as we can always learn something if we have an open mind.
